About the Lebanon Museum
Preserving Lebanon’s History for Future Generations
The Lebanon Museum Foundation is a group of volunteers dedicated to preserving, sharing, and celebrating the history and culture of Lebanon and the surrounding area.
The Foundation was created in 2018 after the mayor and city council appointed a committee to investigate the possibility of establishing a museum in Lebanon. In October 2018, the Foundation held a public kick-off event, and in December we took ownership of a small collection assembled by local residents who had worked for years to establish a museum.
Since then, our collection has grown to include documents, photographs, Native American artifacts, and other historical materials that help tell the story of our community.
After years of work, the Lebanon Museum is preparing for its next chapter in a historic building that will become our permanent home in 2027.
Our Mission
To preserve, educate, and engage the community in the history and culture of the Lebanon area.
What We Do
Preserve
We collect, protect, document, and care for artifacts, photographs, documents, and other materials that tell the story of Lebanon and the surrounding area.
Educate
We share local history through presentations, videos, programs, research, publications, and eventually museum exhibits.
Engage
We work with residents, families, researchers, schools, organizations, and community partners to discover and share the stories that make Lebanon unique.
Our Lebanon Story
#OurLebanonStory has been part of the Lebanon Museum from the beginning.
Every photograph, artifact, document, family story, historic building, business, neighborhood, and community memory is a piece of our shared history.
From Lebanon’s earliest days to the community we know today, these stories are what make up Our Lebanon Story.
